Claudiu Petrule from the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID) has successfully defended his doctoral thesis on August 19, 2026. His dissertation is titled “Between Bench and Bedside: A Multi-Method Analysis of Translational Psychological Treatment Research”
Taking a science-of-science perspective, Claudiu Petrule examined how translational psychological treatment research develops as a scientific field and how knowledge moves from basic psychological research into clinical practice. Using machine learning, bibliometric methods, and citation network analyses, he mapped the international research landscape, identified key challenges in the translation process, and investigated how collaboration, knowledge integration, and scientific structures evolve over time. His findings contribute both to a better understanding of translational psychological treatment research and to broader questions about how complex research fields emerge, develop, and organize scientific knowledge.
His work was supervised by Prof. Dr. Anke Haberkamp from the Witten/Herdecke University and Dr. André Bittermann from the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID).
