Any person may visit ZPID’s website without providing ZPID with personal data. ZPID only maintains data on the name of the Internet service provider, the referring website, and the ZPID web page visited. This information may be used for statistical purposes; however, each user remains anonymous.
Personal data is only registered when a user provides ZPID with this information, for example, in connection with a contract, an order for a customized literature search, purchase of online access, or participation in a survey. Data is only used for the execution of the specific transaction.
If personal data such as e-mail address, name, or postal address is given to ZPID, this information is provided freely by the user. ZPID is allowed to electronically store and use the information provided to ZPID by the user. Use of personal data for the purpose of advertising or market research or optimizing ZPID’s electronic services only occurs with explicit permission of the user. Permission may be revoked at any time by the user. ZPID does not collect or release personal data of visitors to its website to third parties nor does it release personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area.
Like most website operators, ZPID collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. ZPID’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how ZPID’s visitors use it's websites and products.
We use Matomo (www.matomo.org), from InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand, („Matomo“) for this purpose [Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO].
ZPID also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. The IP addresses are completely anonymized. ZPID does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information. Personally-identifying information is not stored.
Opting-out of website tracking
Our email newsletter is sent via the German certified newsletter software provider rapidmail GmbH, Augustinerplatz 2, 79098 Freiburg i.Br., Germany ("rapidmail") to whom we pass on the data you provide during the newsletter registration. This transfer is made in accordance with Art. 6, paragraph 1 lit. f DSGVO and serves our legitimate interest to inform you about our institute, our products and services, and events, etc., with a secure and user-friendly newsletter system. The data entered by you for the purpose of receiving a newsletter (e.g., email address) will be stored on the servers of rapidmail in Germany.
rapidmail uses this information for the dispatching and statistical evaluation of the newsletter on our behalf. However, rapidmail is prohibited from using your data for purposes other than sending the newsletter. rapidmail is not permitted to share or sell your data.
With the help of rapidmail we are able to analyze our newsletter campaigns. For example, we can see when a newsletter message was opened and which links were clicked. If you object to the data analysis for statistical evaluation purposes, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. A link is provided in every newsletter message for this purpose.
The data provided to us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be saved by us until cancellation of your subscription and will be deleted from our servers as well as from the servers of rapidmail after cancellation of the newsletter.

This page uses the Google Maps map service via an API. Provider is Google Ireland ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
To use the features of Google Maps, it is necessary to store your IP address. This information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The provider of this site has no influence on this data transfer.
The use of Google Maps is in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offers and an easy retrievability of the places indicated by us on the website. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. You can find more information on the handling of user data in Google's data protection declaration.
We use the Google Forms service from Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (hereinafter "Google") to carry out surveys or for online forms. Google Forms makes it possible to design and evaluate surveys and online forms. In addition to the respective personal data that you enter in the respective forms, information on your operating system, browser, date and time of your visit, referrer URL and your IP address is recorded. Your personal data will be processed by Google on our behalf. The legal basis for the processing of data by Google is Art. 28 GDPR.
Processing usually takes place within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. However, it cannot be ruled out that data transfers to the USA may occur.

Data processing through social networks
We maintain publicly available profiles in social networks. The individual social networks we use can be found below. Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter etc. can generally analyze your user behavior comprehensively if you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (e.g. like buttons or banner ads). When you visit our social media pages, numerous data protection-relevant processing operations are triggered.
In detail: If you are logged in to your social media account and visit our social media page, the operator of the social media portal can assign this visit to your user account. Under certain circumstances, your personal data may also be recorded if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media portal. In this case, this data is collected, for example, via cookies stored on your device or by recording your IP address.
Using the data collected in this way, the operators of the social media portals can create user profiles in which their preferences and interests are stored. This way you can see interest-based advertising inside and outside of your social media presence. If you have an account with the social network, interest-based advertising can be displayed on any device you are logged in to or have logged in to.
Please also note that we cannot retrace all processing operations on the social media portals. Depending on the provider, additional processing operations may therefore be carried out by the operators of the social media portals. Legal basis
Our social media appearances should ensure the widest possible presence on the Internet. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The analysis processes initiated by the social networks may be based on divergent legal bases to be specified by the operators of the social networks (e.g. consent within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
Responsibility and assertion of rights
If you visit one of our social media sites (e.g., Facebook), we, together with the operator of the social media platform, are responsible for the data processing operations triggered during this visit. You can in principle protect your rights (information, correction, deletion, limitation of processing, data portability and complaint) vis-à-vis us as well as vis-à-vis the operator of the respective social media portal (e.g. Facebook). Please note that despite the shared responsibility with the social media portal operators, we do not have full influence on the data processing operations of the social media portals. Our options are determined by the company policy of the respective provider.
Storage time
The data collected directly from us via the social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as the purpose for their storage lapses, you ask us to delete it, you revoke your consent to the storage or the purpose for the data storage lapses. Stored cookies remain on your device until you delete them. Mandatory statutory provisions - in particular, retention periods - remain unaffected. We have no control over the storage duration of your data that are stored by the social network operators for their own purposes. We have a profile on Facebook. The provider of this service is Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland. According to Facebook’s statement the collected data will also be transferred to the USA and to other third-party countries. We have signed an agreement with Facebook on shared responsibility for the processing of data (Controller Addendum). This agreement determines which data processing operations we or Facebook are responsible for when you visit our Facebook Fanpage.
