Your responsibilities
Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.

The Department of Cognitive Psychology, located at Universität Hamburg, is inviting scientists of exceptional talent to apply for a PhD position at the intersection of Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience.

Our lab provides an open, friendly, and supportive environment, with excellent access to all state-of-the-art technologies and a dense network of local, national and international collaborators. We are part of the internationally-oriented research training group “Emotional Learning and Memory” that provides an outstanding research training environment (emotionalmemory.de). The successful candidate will work on an exciting project directed at understanding the neural and cognitive processes underlying learning and memory processes. The position involves teaching of 3h/wk (3 LVS) during the teaching period.

Your profile
A university degree in a relevant field.
General requirements:

  • enthusiasm for research in Cognitive Neuroscience
  • excellent knowledge in the fields of Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience
  • excellent English communication skills
  • ability to work in a team

German language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.

Specific requirements:

  • excellent methodological skills and knowledge of statistics
  • openness to learn new techniques
  • first experiences in EEG or fMRI are advantageous
  • programming skills in R, MATLAB or Phython are expected
