Workshop on Open Science and Research Data Management

DataWiz is ZPID's research data management tool that helps scientists prepare and document their data. Dr. Erich Weichselgartner, ZPID's Deputy Director, will be conducting a workshop at the University of Mannheim to explain the many features and uses.

He will also introduce methods for open science. Better comprehension and easier reproducibility can be attained through presenting detailed procedures and materials. "Open science should become the standard for research in Europe", according to Dr. Weichselgartner. The old restrictions due to analogue media is being replaced by digitalization and networking, so that not only the end product publication but all components of the scientific process can be made accessible and reusable.

In the workshop, methods to implement open science without considerable additional expenditures are introduced. A central component will be the hands on practice of the procedures for processing research data under the guiding principles to make data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (the FAIR principles).
