Research Data Management

Abstract

In this workshop, we will show how to create high-quality data documentation in four effective steps. To this end, we will introduce the D-Psy-FAIR standard and show you how to apply it when documenting your data. The D-Psy-FAIR standard aims at FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and thus sustainable documentation of psychological research data. The standard enables data documentation that can map the entire research process through the implementation of four simple documentation steps: The first step represents a study description that contains information representative of the study design and the methods used to implement it. The second documentation step involves the creation of a comprehensive codebook that includes information on the name, exact label, value labels, missing values, and the measurement instrument used to collect the variable. The third documentation step includes a comprehensive and generally understandable description of the data preparation and analysis steps. The fourth step of the D-Psy-FAIR documentation process ultimately involves the creation of a graphical overview of the entire research data process. In this workshop, the individual steps will be explained and demonstrated both by imparting theoretical knowledge and by exercises for practical implementation.
