Niyati Thakur defended her doctoral thesis brilliantly on July 5, 2024. The title of her dissertation is "Living with State Orientation: From Problems to Solutions".
The thesis deals with the personality disposition of state vs. action orientation, which captures the self-regulation competencies between different individuals. More specifically, how specifically state-oriented people face different challenges due to these self-regulatory incompetencies and how different solutions can be customized to help them. State orientation is a self-regulatory strategy that focuses more on emotional states than on solutions. In contrast, action-oriented people focus their attention and motivation on practical actions that can solve problems.
The reviewers for the dissertation were Prof. Dr. Nicola Baumann from the Trier University and Prof. Dr. Johannes Michalak from the University of Witten/Herdecke.
