Winners of DGOF Best Paper Award 2020 Announced - ZPID Is Sponsor

ZPID supports this year's DGOF Best Paper Award. Recipients of this year's award are: Felix Henninger, Yury Shevchenko, Ulf K. Mertens, Pascal J. Kieslich, and Benjamin E. Hilbig.

For this year's Best Paper Award of the German Society for Online Research (DGOF), 19 contributions were submitted, all of which were published in peer-reviewed scientific journals or accepted for publication.

After examining the submissions in detail, the jury agreed to present the award for outstanding scientific contribution to online research to Felix Henninger, Yury Shevchenko, Ulf K. Mertens, Pascal J. Kieslich, and Benjamin E. Hilbig for their paper titled "lab.js: A free, open, online study builder", published in Behavior Research Methods.

"Once again this year we had a number of outstanding international submissions and due to the consistently extremely high quality of the entries, the jury's selection was not easy. However, the winning article, which presents an open-source experiment builder, was convincing due to its innovative and technically high-quality approach and makes a valuable contribution to a broad scientific community", said Prof. Dr. Florian Keusch, chairman of the jury and deputy chairman of the DGOF board.

The nine-member jury was composed of Prof. Dr. Markus Appel (University of Würzburg), Prof. Dr. Nicola Doering (TU Ilmenau), Prof. Dr. Florian Keusch (University of Mannheim), Prof. Aigul Mavletova (National University Higher School of Economics, Russia), Prof. Dr. Jochen Musch (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf), Prof. Dr. Ulf-Dietrich Reips (University of Konstanz), Dr. Henning Silber (GESIS Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences), Assistant Prof. Dr. Bella Struminskaya (University of Utrecht), and Dr. Cathleen M. Stützer (TU Dresden).

Recipients of the DGOF Best Paper Award 2020 receive a cash prize of 500 euros. The award is sponsored by ZPID this year. "Promoting online research is a very special concern of ours. With our digital services, including PsychLab Online, our online lab available by the end of 2020, and PsychArchives, our digital repository, we see ourselves as part of the community", says ZPID Director and founding member of the German Society for Online Research, Prof. Dr. Michael Bosnjak.

The award ceremony will take place at the General Online Research (GOR 20) conference, which will be held in Berlin on March 11-13, 2020, in cooperation with the HTW Berlin.
