Lisa Spitzer has received recognition for her very first seminar ever taught at the University of Trier. She placed third in the teaching award survey 2021 conducted by the Fachschaftsrat Psychologie Trier (Trier Psychology Student Council) for her course “EDP/B3 Research and Data Analysis.”.

Lisa Spitzer joined the Leibniz Institute of Psychology (ZPID) in 2020 as a research associate, taking over the teaching position from her colleague, Nadine Wedderhoff. "I was delighted to fill in for her during her maternity leave. This is how I had the opportunity to teach the course ‘EDP/B3 Research and Data Analysis’ focusing on SPSS during the  2021 summer semester," Lisa Spitzer explains. "SPSS and the programming language R are two commonly used research software programs in psychology. I was able to teach these students the necessary basics in a very practical way."

Due to the pandemic situation, the seminar had to be held online, allowing more students to participate than in an on-site seminar. "I had over seventy students in two seminars," recalls Spitzer. "This worked out well because I was able to utilize Dr.. Wedderhoff's presentation slides for the theoretical part and, based on that, engage in many practical exercises with the students. To do this, they gathered together into groups in breakout rooms, which I and our auxiliary researcher, Alyin Hatum, attended virtually on a rotating basis."

Thus, many undergraduate Bachelor’s students were able to successfully complete their EDP seminar. And Lisa Spitzer’s first seminar at the University of Trier was also a complete success. " I am very happy to receive this award because I really enjoy teaching. After providing statistics tutorials during my time as a student assistant, I’m delighted to have the opportunity to teach again." The fact that she has already made presentations and offered workshops on her own research areas of preregistration and transparency in science and research has certainly contributed to her success. The experience she has gained by offering presentations and workshops on her own research areas of preregistration and transparency in science and research as well as by  providing tutorials during her own studies at the University of Cologne has certainly contributed to her success.

We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Lisa Spitzer!
