Postdoc (m/f/d)

(TV-L 13, full time, 2 years)

The Cluster of Excellence "Data-Integrated Simulation Science" (EXC 2075) is an interdisciplinary research center with more than 200 scientists performing research towards a common goal: We target a new class of modeling and computational methods based on available data from various sources, in order to take the usability, precision and reliability of simulations to a new level.

The scope of the project relates to critically reflecting the broader impact of simulation science. Potential areas of research might include (but are not limited to) ethical and social concerns connected with simulation science, such as data ethics, privacy issues, or dual use; the function of different media (including literature and art) in the critical reflection of potential risks and effects of simulation science; or empirical studies on impact assessment of research approaches within the cluster. The successful candidate will work closely together with the SimTech “Platform for Reflection”, which offers a forum for reflecting on more general implications of the research conducted within EXC 2075. Their research will also be connected to the Stuttgart Research Focus “Interchange Forum for Reflecting on Intelligent Systems” (SRF IRIS), which they can join as a member upon interest.

You will be responsible for developing new tools for reflecting upon the impact of simulation science both within and beyond EXC 2075. While the postdoctoral project proposed will be rooted in your home discipline, it should demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary scope and address key issues arising from research conducted within EXC 2075.

The position is fully funded (100%) and is available to applicants of any nationality. You will contribute to the leadership of ongoing projects, will have the opportunity to advise undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to the teaching activities of the group.

Please submit your complete application by e-mail with one pdf attachment comprising a cover letter, academic CV, research statement (4 pages max.), a full publication list, names and contact addresses of two referees, as well as academic certificates and transcript of records and the completed application form (click here) to jobs(at) by 30 August 2021.

If you have any questions regarding this application, please contact the SimTech Committee Platform for Reflection (reflection(at)
