The University of Potsdam, Faculty of Human Science, Cognitive Sciences, Department of Psychology invites applications for the following position, to be filled by April 1, 2021:

Full Professorship (W 3) of Social Psychology

The successful candidate will cover the entire field of social psychology in teaching and research. Applicants are expected to have experience in university teaching, an excellent track record of international, high-quality publications, experience in the acquisition of external research funding, and high national and international academic visibility. The professor will take on full responsibility for teaching social psychology in the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Psychology and in related degree programs. The main teaching language is German, but some courses may be held in English.

The candidate’s research profile should allow for connections to the research profile of the Department of Psychology. They should also show strong interest in getting involved in the University’s Research Focus on Cognitive Sciences. Efforts in establishing new national or international scientific collaborations or research networks are desirable. Commitment to participating in the further development of degree programs and to support academic self-administration in various roles is required. Candidates must have a good command of German and English.

The following application requirements for professors must be documented in accordance with Section 41 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG): a completed university degree, pedagogical talent, and a particular aptitude for scientific and scholarly work, as is typically documented by a dissertation project; comprehensive competences in science management and additional scholarly achievements as evidenced by a Habilitation (post-doctoral dissertation), a junior professorship or work as a research associate at an institution of higher education or an extramural research institution, or scholarly activity in the private sector, or in a similar social field, whether in Germany or abroad. The appointment procedure is conducted in accordance with Section 40 BbgHG.
