PhD position in Epidemiology in the research group of the Swiss Multiple Sclerosis Registry 60 % (full-time doctorate)
The Swiss Multiple Sclerosis Registry is a very successful, longitudinal study for and with persons with MS. The Registry is conducted in close collaboration with the Swiss Multiple Sclerosis Society and persons with MS and is widely regarded as pioneer project for Citizen Science in Medicine.
You will analyse clinical and patient-reported data from the Swiss Multiple Sclerosis Registry and other databases. In your work, you will pursue research on the epidemiology of MS in Switzerland, "life courses" and disease progression in persons with MS, as well as projects related to different MS treatments. Communication of our findings in lay language to the MS Society and persons with MS will also be part of your job.
You will follow the structured PhD program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, which is a PhD program of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School. The PhD study usually takes 3 to 4 years to complete. The goal of the program is to train PhD students as methodologists with specialized skills in designing, conducting and analyzing studies in a biomedical research context. Students acquire core competencies either in epidemiology or in biostatistics, and competencies specific to the respective field of research.
For this project we search a highly motivated person with a Master's Degree (e.g. in Epidemiology, Statistics, Biology, Biomedicine, Medicine, Psychology) and with good knowledge of Biostatistics and statistical programming (e.g., R), a good command of English and German (French is an asset), and the willingness to actively collaborate with persons with Multiple Sclerosis.

As a member of our highly interdisciplinary team you will receive the opportunity to pursue your research independently, but with support of specialists in IT, Biostatistics, Public Health, or Psychology.
