The Center for Law & Economics (lawecon.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich has approximately 70 group members from law, economics, political science and computer science. At the Center, Professor Stefan Bechtold invites applications for a Fellowship in Empirical Intellectual Property Research.

Job description

The fellow will work on quantitative empirical or experimental research on intellectual property law and/or Internet law (privacy, automated decision-making, IT security, legaltech etc.). The goal of this fellowship is to enable fellows to devote one to two years on empirical research in preparation of the academic legal job market. Fellows will be able to pursue their own research agenda in a highly research-focused environment at a leading research university. We offer an interdisciplinary environment, close interaction, and excellent contacts with leading scholars at U.S. law schools. Our Center organizes various seminar series seminar series and conferences (https://lawecon.ethz.ch/workshop-and-lecture-series.html) which enable our group members to meet internationally leading researchers from all areas of law & economics on a regular basis. Our broad international network offers attractive career prospects.

We offer excellent working conditions and an internationally competitive salary (paid according to ETH standards  https://www.ethz.ch/en/the-eth-zurich/working-teaching-and-research/welcome-center/employment-contract-and-salary/salary.html). Teaching and administrative duties are limited. Our offices are located in downtown Zurich, and the working language is English. The appointment will be for at least one year. The starting date is flexible.

Your profile

The ideal candidate for this position will have a JD & a Ph.D in economics/psychology, or have a JD and a strong background/interest in quantitative empirical methods.
