Abteilungsbeschreibung / Description of UZH unit
The position is located within the Department of Psychology at the University of Zurich and offers an outstanding work and research environment. The workgroup for Quantitative Methods of Intervention and Evaluation is active and internationally connected in quantitative methods and psychometrics. The workgroup's focus is to develop new statistical methods for (intensive) longitudinal and multilevel data and latent variable models (structural equation modeling) primarily using Bayesian modeling techniques.
Aufgabenbereich / Responsibilities
The duties of the job holder include:
- The development, validation and application of new quantitative methods for (intensive) longitudinal data and/or (multilevel) structural equation models for complex (e.g., large-scale) data
- Implementation in software packages such as R and Stan/Jags
- Publication of research results in highly-ranked international journals and their presentation at international conferences with a methodological focus
- A moderate amount of teaching and supervision of Bachelor and Master theses
- A moderate amount of statistical consulting for members of the Department of Psychology

100 % (Post Doc) or 70% (PhD)
Anforderungen / Qualifications
Successful applicants for the PhD position will have a Master degree in Psychology with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods, or in a related field such as statistics with an interest in psychological research questions. Applicants for the PostDoc position will have a PhD (on starting date) in Psychology or in a related field with a concentration on quantitative methods. Applicants should have extensive experience with structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling and/or longitudinal analysis as well as Bayesian statistics, and excellent programming skills in R. Previous authorships are expected from applicant for the PostDoc position.
Sprachkenntnisse / Language requirements
Strong English language skills are necessary. International applicants are expected to acquire knowledge of the German language within one year. Language courses will be supported.

The position is intended for academic qualification and offers the opportunity for independent research and formal qualification acquisition (PhD or Habilitation) as well as applications to third party funding. The position is initially limited to three years with the opportunity of extension to a maximum of six years (as is typical for qualification positions in the Swiss university system).
