Opportunity

  • The Global Talent, Leadership and OE organization is responsible for creating and executing high impact talent strategies across the adidas Group and includes succession planning, leadership development, learning, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • The Vice President (VP) HR Talent Management has twofold set of responsibilities: Talent Strategy and Succession Management. The VP will be responsible for owning the vision, strategy, and build of global Talent Strategy, succession and career management initiatives and programs that create an exceptional and inclusive talent experience aimed at strengthening the adidas talent pipeline.
  • The VP Talent Management will build, manage and activate the Global Talent Strategy team to execute on key global priorities
  • This position provides an excellent opportunity to:

Key Responsibilities
Talent Strategy:

  • The VP will support the SVP, Global Talent, Leadership & OE and her senior leadership team in the development and execution of an enterprise-wide talent strategy through effective coordination of operational and strategic projects and programs under the Global Talent organization.
  • Shape and develop the Talent Strategy at adidas and deliver on transformational people-related initiatives on a large, de-centralized global scale.
  • Design, develop and implement global, innovative talent management programs and processes to improve depth, quality, and engagement of talent across the organization
  • Advance adidas’ thinking on key talent trends and opportunities; provide thought leadership to SVP, Global Talent; provide subject matter expertise and guidance to senior leadership and HRSLT
  • Ensure adidas remains abreast of emerging trends in human capital and assists Talent leadership team in the development and execution of the Talent strategy. Act as internal resource capable of evaluating emerging trends/practices within external and internal Global Talent community and incorporate into Talent strategy/operational plan.
  • Drive the development of Talent strategy and ensure cross-functional alignment
    • Design, prepare and facilitate results-oriented Talent Senior Leadership Team Meetings.
    • Partner with internal communications to ensure a robust communications strategy for Talent function within HR and broader business.
    • Liaise with other functions within HR to ensure alignment, collaboration and cross fertilization of ideas.
    • Help create a culture of accountability & excellence with consistent standards and quality of service delivery.

Succession Management:

  • Lead the design, development and management of adidas Global Succession Management methodology and processes. Establish the system and environment that empowers the business to design tomorrow’s organization, clearly defining future requirements and a process that ensures success. Establish and manage the necessary community within adidas to manage the global succession opportunities and risks across the organization.
  • Enhance our talent management assessment, potential identification, development and feedback mechanisms, such as talent review, succession planning, executive assessment, coaching and individual development planning
  • Create a vision on how Digitalization of the strategy, processes and tools to drive both current and future business needs, creating transparency and efficiency in execution. Support the implementation & execution of the Succession & Talent Analytics tool as part of HR Cloud SuccessFactors IT implementation (exp. 2022)
  • Create user friendly and innovative, best-in-class processes and tools that support the business to manage succession in-line with our strategy (Creating the New).
  • Lead the community through an annual process to execute the succession strategy/methodology and monitor global execution, processes/tools and ensure operational excellence. Oversee and drive the project management approach to ensure we collaborate with business and HR leaders, keeping the key stakeholders up to date on key milestones and progress.
  • Define and build the global Succession communication and marketing materials, tools & training concepts for the relevant user groups and support execution through enabling and quality assurance.
  • Develop and track the relevant metrics, data and KPI’s to monitor succession management process execution and drive data-based decisions.
  • Develop and execute an approach to successor readiness planning; partner closely with Leadership Development to develop talent pipeline and adequately prepare leaders of the future
  • Collaborate with Talent Partners to gather input of companywide needs to create all necessary tools, ensuring global implementation and adoption of performance related initiatives and processes; propose new innovative solutions and drive change.
  • Remain current on best practice and industry innovations concerning all relevant succession management topics (conferences, benchmarking groups, academic research, etc.) and engage in education and upskill of the Succession Management community.
  • Develop and manage global Career Mapping tools, processes and criteria; maintain stakeholder buy-in and input
  • Develop and execute a career management framework to ensure successful internal movement of top talent
  • Oversee/manage Executive Coaching decisions to support executive leadership development and movement of talent globally
  • Ensure strategic alignment with partnering Centres of Excellence (e.g., Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Employee Experience)
  • Support SVP in creation of Board level Succession and Talent communications/presentations
  • Act as the strategic partner to lead/represent the Talent Function in negotiations and communication with the Works Council to arrive at aligned and supported agreements in collaboration with Labor Relations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep level of strategic thinking and leadership experience at a senior level.
  • Depth of understanding of integrated Talent experiences.
  • Strong conceptual thinking with a creative and pragmatic approach to developing and implementing Strategic HR concepts, tools, processes, and systems
  • Proven track record in bringing HR strategic concepts & tools into practice (sell, implement & sustain), leading projects in contributing to large initiatives. Ensuring alignment/coordination of physically distant teams
  • Experience leading a global HR project in a Matrix organization
  • Expert knowledge in fundamentals of organizational cultural change, talent management principles
  • Exceptional ability to create compelling verbal and visual strategic presentations.
  • Proactive and effective Communicator and networking skills on Executive Level/ with Senior Management Teams
  • International and Inclusive mind-set and English Fluency is required

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business or related fields; MBA, MA or PhD in a field related to human capital, Organizational Psychology, Talent/ Organizational Development would be a plus
  • Minimum of 12 to 14 years of work experience in the HR field within different areas of an international cooperation (HQ, Region, Area/Sub), preferably within HRM and T&D
  • Experience leading the design and execution of HR Strategic Concepts/projects across a global matrix organization
