1 Postdoctoral researcher (m/f)
on Artificial Intelligence and the society of the future
(TVöD E 13, 39 hours/week)
The position is available from January 2019 onwards.
Job description: The Center for Adaptive Rationality takes an interdisciplinary approach to cognitive science and decision making. For this position, applicants (m/f) should be interested in using behavioral experimentation and/or computational methods to study artificial intelligence and its potential to transform society on social, political and economic levels. Expertise with any one of these methodologies is required. Applicants should have an interest in open science, open data and science communication.
Requirements: Applicants (m/f) should have a background in computer science/ machine learning, artificial intelligence, or cognitive science; ideally they should have experience in behavioral experimentation and/or computational methods and should be interested in the challenges arising from the impact of information architectures supported by artificial intelligence (e.g., mirco-targeted manipulation) on today and tomorrow’s society. The successful candidate will be working in an interdisciplinary, integrative research network consisting of researchers from cognitive science, AI, cyber-security, network science, and ethics. Candidates (m/f) must have a PhD. There are no teaching obligations with this position.
The Max Planck Institute for Human Development (www.mpib-berlin.mpg.de) offers an excellent infrastructure including support staff and equipment for conducting experiments (e.g., behavioral laboratory, computer cluster, virtual reality, eye tracking, fMRI, EEG, TMS).
