The International Max Planck Research School on Computational Methods in Psychiatry and Ageing Research (IMPRS COMP2PSYCH) seeks applicants (m/f/d) for up to 3 three-year PhD fellow positions to be based at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin, Germany, or at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany.

The IMPRS COMP2PSYCH ( is an international doctoral program of the Max Planck UCL Centre for Computational Psychiatry and Ageing Research, with sites in London and Berlin.

With the current call, we are explicitly looking for applicants aiming at working with our Berlin faculty. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in explaining the large heterogeneity in intra-individual change of cognitive abilities across the lifespan. A focus should be on combining advanced imaging methods with computational and statistical methods to classify and predict patterns of individual change.

The IMPRS COMP2PSYCH is strongly interdisciplinary and invites applications from graduate students with a master’s degree who intend to pursue a PhD in applied mathematics, computer science, cognitive neuroscience, psychiatry, or psychology, with an emphasis on computational and statistical methods. The working language of the PhD program is English.

We offer a three-year stipend- or contract-based position, depending upon the funding institution, as well as research expenses and travel funding to conferences or courses. Students will participate in international summer schools, seminars and workshops, and have the opportunity to conduct a research project of up to 3 months in London.

The Max Planck Society strives for gender and diversity equality. We welcome applications from all backgrounds. Furthermore, the Max Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.
